Chapter 10

Danny destroyed as much as he could but then all the shadows ganged up on him piled on top of him, Danny, took a deep breath and soon let out his powerful Ghostly Wail, sending all the shadows away. The shadows disappeared after the powerful wail. Danny sees one and used his cyrokenisis and froze the unknown being in a block of ice. Danny looks at his watch and found that he’s five minutes late to his date.

Danny: Oh drat!! Sam’s gonna kill me. Can’t leave this thing behind. I know what to do.

He takes his cell phone out and calls his ghost hunter parents, Maddie and Jack Fenton. He listens to the beeps until someone picked up.

???: Hello, who is this?

Danny: Dad, it’s Danny.

Jack: DANNY!!! Oh, it’s good to hear from you. How’s the hero business going, my son?

Danny: It’s going great, dad. Listen, I need you and mom to do a pickup for me.

Jack: Why didn’t you use the…FENTON THERMOS to catch the ghost?

Danny: It’s a bit complicated. It’s not even a ghost. I just need you two to look at it and see what you can find on this…thing. I’ll mark the location down.

Jack: Sure thing, son!!

His dad hangs up and Danny puts his cell phone away and flies over to Sam’s house hoping to find a reason to explain all this.

New York City, New York, United States, June 21, 1976

???: Rorschach’s Journal, June 21st, 1976, Things are starting to go to hell, the hatred against us masks are starting to rise. Going to Dan’s place for another patrol of the streets. Little girl’s murder still stuck in head, images never go away. Murderer got what he deserved, the justice system wouldn’t do anything about him, if I brought him alive. Heard rumors of domestic disturbances going on, no witnesses, reason Dan and I are checking it out.

Rorschach puts his journal away and sees his partner, Nite Owl still getting his Owlship or AKA Archimedes or “Archie” for short, ready.

Rorschach: Are you done, yet?

Nite Owl: I’m trying to finish this as fast as I could. Can’t you wait?

Rorschach: Just anxious, Daniel. I just don’t want to take a chance to let whoever is causing disturbances get away.

Nite Owl: Well, I can understand. (Closes panel) There all done. Archie’s ready for crime fighting. Let’s move.

Rorschach and Nite Owl goes into the ship, Nite Owl sits in the pilot’s seat while Rorschach sat in the seat across from him. Rorschach looks out the window as Nite Owl prepared the ship for flight. The ship lifts in the air and flies through the tunnel. As it reached the end of the tunnel the ship goes into water and soon it resurfaced out of it. The ship flies over the city. The radio set to listen in on police frequencies was on hoping to hear any report linking to a disturbance.

Rorschach: Why don’t we land and ask around?

Nite Owl: Well, the disturbances you talked about could be anywhere.

Rorschach: How about the gangs or bums? They may have a clue.

Nite Owl: Okay, but no “Grice”, Rorschach. People hate us enough as it is.

Rorschach: My mind was starting to settle until you brought that up.

Nite Owl: Me and my big mouth, huh?

Rorschach: Yeah.

The ship flew over one part of the city; Rorschach and Nite Owl jumped out of hatch below the ship. They landed on the ground, Nite Owl then directed the ship to the skies and cover itself in the clouds, getting it ready for in case of an extraction or escape plan was needed. They walk to a bar and walk in through the door. The patrons were getting their share of alcohol from their beverages until the bartender saw the two vigilantes.

Bartender: Oh, no. I just cleaned up here since you last visit.

Rorschach: Random domestic disturbance! Anyone here who knows about it?

The patrons looked at each other and eyes towards one man whose clothing is very poor and has real messy hair. The man looks around and fear crept into him as the duo walked to him.

Informant: Oh come on. I’m not your guy.

Rorschach: The people here, says otherwise. Now, who’s responsible for the disturbances?

Informant: Okay, okay, just calm down. I don’t want to end up like that guy you killed.

Rorschach: NOW!!

Informant: All I know is. People go by abandoned areas and no one comes out even in the alleys. Hell, even the cops are getting scared because I heard some of their people never came or reported back. Please, don’t break my arm.

Rorschach: Where has it been mostly occurring?

Informant: I think at that one abandon hotel in the Bronx I believe. I think it was the Star and Heart Hotel, real messy joint. Even the gangs are afraid to hang out there.

Rorschach: If I find out that you’ve been lying to me you’re going to wish you had told me the truth.

Informant: I swear it on my mother’s grave.

Rorschach and Nite Owl left the bar, the bartender sighed that Rorschach didn’t make a mess of his bar, again. Rorschach and Nite Owl checked out the Bronx. They walked towards the abandoned hotel and looks at the boarded up entrance.

Nite Owl: Well, we’re going to have to find another way in here. I wonder how people got in here, anyway.

Rorschach: There’s always ways to get into a building like this. Let’s search around it. See, how they got in.

Nite Owl: I’ll take left, you take right.

Rorschach and Nite Owl split up and search around the building hoping to find any access, inside. Rorschach carefully looks at the wall found something suspicious about it. He saw a flat metal plate covering something hidden. Rorschach looked behind it and saw what looked like to be a makeshift hole. Rorschach pulls the plate away from the hole.

Rorschach: I found a way!!

Nite Owl: Okay, on my way.

Nite Owl reached Rorschach and the two of them went through the hole. It was dark; Nite Owl turned his night vision goggles on while Rorschach pulled his flashlight out. The light didn’t turn on right away, he hit it a few times and the light came on. They walked in the main area. Nite Owl looked around in his goggles while Rorschach shined his light around the lobby area.

Rorschach: I don’t see what’s scaring people.

Nite Owl: Maybe we should search the rooms.

Rorschach: I’ll search top floor.

Nite Owl: Here. (Throws him a hand-held communicator) We’re going to need to stay in contact and here. (Throws a grappling gun to him) I figure you might want to save the trouble of climbing up pipes and all.

Rorschach: Thanks.

Rorschach aimed the grappling gun at the highest floor, he pulled the trigger and the hook was gas-propelled out of the barrel, the hook attached itself to a beam to the railing, Rorschach pulled the trigger again and the gun reeled him towards the hook. Rorschach grabbed onto the railing and vaulted over it. Nite Owl activated his communicator.

Nite Owl: (Communicator) Testing, testing. Coming in clear, Rorschach?

Rorschach: Loud and clear.

Nite Owl: All right. It works! This works better if we’re separated. That way we know each other’s progress. So, how did you like the grapple gun?

Rorschach: Feels different.

Nite Owl: Well, you’ll get used to it. Anyway, let’s search the rooms. Report in if you find something.

Rorschach: Roger, Rorschach, over and out.

Rorschach kicks down the door to a room; he shined his flashlight around the room, nothing in sight, only dusty furniture and a dirty bed. He looked in the closet and found nothing worth of interest in it. He gets out of the room but soon he heard something swoosh in an opposite direction. He looked to the source of the noise but saw nothing. He follows it and enters another room, empty like all the other rooms.

Rorschach enters the room and searches everywhere. He searched the closet, the kitchen area, and the bed, too, nothing.

Nite Owl: (Communicator) Come in, Rorschach.

Rorschach: Here.

Nite Owl: (Communicator) Found anything?

Rorschach: Nothing, yet.

Nite Owl: (Communicator) Alright, be on guard. I believe I heard some noises, here.

Rorschach: No kidding.

Nite Owl: (Communicator) Well I’m…(static)….the…(static) floor. Rors…ach…(static) you there?

Rorschach: Couldn’t understand.

But he got no reply as the communicator was dead with static. Someone or something is jamming the signal. Then, something spawns from the wall; Rorschach pointed his light at the wall spawn and out came a creature covered in darkness with two glowing yellow eyes. Rorschach throws a chair at the creature knocking it down. He then picked it up and threw it at the wall. Rorschach saw more coming from the floor and the wall. Even though they were small they were pretty dangerous in a big group. Rorschach found himself outnumbered and got out of the room and closed the door. They broke through the door in an instant. They tried to jump on him but he punched one sending him back and hit his friends. Rorschach looked for any sign of Nite Owl in any of the lower floors. He jumped down catching each railing one by one until he saw one of the shadow creatures thrown out from a door and saw Nite Owl fighting them outside of the room. Rorschach jumped down to his level and helped him fight them off.

Rorschach: I believe we ran into a little company.

Nite Owl: You don’t say.

Rorschach: Outnumbered can’t take them all down.

Nite Owl: What do you suggest?

Rorschach: Destroy whole building.

Nite Owl: I can’t believe I’m saying this but looks like we got no other choice.

Nite Owl called in his ship as crashed over the roof of the hotel and hovers over the hole it made. The duo gets their grapple guns out and shoots to the ship and reeled up to the ship. As they made it they get into the ship. Nite Owl activates the ship’s weapon system and moves around the building and pressed the flamethrower button. The building was set ablaze as the wood was turning black. Once the whole building was covered in fire, Nite Owl fired at the building with the ship’s gatling gun taking down the structure and destroying leaving nothing but ashes. As the remains were still burning he activated the ship’s smoke to rob the fire of oxygen. The fire ceased and the ship leaves the scene as the police and fire department arrives.

Nite Owl: I wonder how people will react to that.

Rorschach: Won’t take it serious. Building was nothing important. Anti-vigilantes will make excuses about it.

Nite Owl: I’ll agree with you there, partner. Hopefully, we have seen the last of those things.

Rorschach: Gut feeling says otherwise.

Nite Owl: Like what?

Rorschach: Like the end is nigh, those things may be the beginning to the apocalypse and if they’re dangerous then we may have never seen the last of them. My gut tells me that Armageddon is a few steps away.

Nite Owl: Man, I don’t think I’ll be getting any sleep from this after what you just said.

Chapter 10 End
Alright, the Heartless appears for the first time in Amity Park. Rorschach and Nite Owl make their first appearance in this. Their characters from the famous graphic novel and now, movie, the Watchmen. I tried to do my best to keep them in character so don't burn me if they're not.
