Chapter 4

Leon looks out the window of the moving car, the skies was dropping loads of rain onto the world. After the Miami Incident he hated the government for allowing themselves to become corrupted and controlled by another organization, he didn’t know who the hell they were. He hated the fact that they were responsible for a great deal of many things that were considered illegal. Many of his buddies or associates were arrested for those things and he trusted those people with his life. When he tried proposing to Claire, she told him that she watched the news about the mass arrests of federal and government agents as well political figures. She questioned him if their relationship was intentional or just an act for him to take advantage of her and that should she trust him or not. Leon tried to explain but he couldn’t find the exact words for it. Claire was angry with him that he’s been part of the government for a while now and he’s not telling her squat of what he did. The final words he heard from her was that she never wants to be a part of his life or the one he lives in now. Leon then went into a state of depression, he now didn’t want to be involved what the government was doing now. He wanted out for years, now. He grew desperate that the director will accept his resignation but he didn’t. Rather than showing up for work, Leon goes to bars and takes his time drinking alcohol to make him forget everything that happened to him. So far, he couldn’t just let go of the memory of him and Claire still together.

As the car approached the Pentagon the Army soldiers were already forming around the vehicle to defend it. The protestors yell at the car. Leon could care less what happens to the guys in front of him. The car reaches to a stop. The three of them stepped out of the vehicle and walked towards the entrance, the rain pelted on them until they reached inside. Leon hasn’t been going back inside the Pentagon for a long time but still can find his way around. The original ID scanners stand there still but were probably updated. The two agents scanned their IDs and were allowed in. Leon pulls out his from his wallet and puts it over the scanner. The scanner reads it but the then he hears a sound that denies him passage any farther into the building.

Scanner: Access denied. ID is expired, please get a new one.

Security Guard: Sir, you need to get a new ID. Follow me.

Leon: I didn’t come all this way for a new ID.

Agent #2: It’s procedure, Kennedy.

Leon: Screw procedure.

Leon then vaults over the scanners much to the guard’s surprise, as they were going to stop him from going further but he kept on walking until the agents stopped him.

Agent #2: Hold it. You’re not going anyway until you get a new ID.

Leon: And if I don’t?

Agent #2: Then you’re going to have another problem on your hands, so I suggest you go back and get a new ID.

Leon: Listen I’m here because the director wanted me here. I don’t have time to play “Waste My Time With Needless Things”. So if it’s really important then I’m going, so don’t stop me or you’re having another problem on your hands from him.

The agent couldn’t think of a better more comeback against Leon. He continued to lead Leon to the director’s office. At the office, Leon opened the door, the director looked surprised.

Frank: Leon, nice to see you again.

Leon: Well if isn’t Ol’ Frankie? Still denying my resignation I see.

Frank: You know I won’t accept it. You’re one of my best guys. All the rest were thrown away behind bars.

Leon: Well, I’m here. Don’t waste my time.

Frank: Solid Snake has come back. We’re assembling a team to find him.

Leon: You still pursuing him?! What does that have to do with me? My services are only required if it involves bio-terrorism.

Frank: You went up against a lot of people who were tough especially legendary. Snake is a man, with your skills you can take him down.

Leon: Oh, right. I’ll just find and fight him. You never heard did you? He took down members of a frickin’ rogue unit that was skilled.

Frank: But you can do it.

Leon: Maybe you’re deaf, I said my services are required if it involves bio-terrorism. If there’s no bio-terrorism going on. Then I’m done here.

When Leon was about to leave…

Frank: You know what, Leon? Since you’ve been wanting to resign for so many years so bad. I plan on doing something good for you.

Leon: What?

Frank: You do this last mission for us; I’ll accept your resignation. You’ll never hear from me again or anyone else, you’ll be free to live your own life.

Leon thought about this, he knows he doesn’t want to get involved in anything else the government wants him, but again he did want his resignation to be accepted. This is his opportunity now to leave the government forever. If he doesn’t take this assignment, then he’ll spend only God knows how many years trying to resign.

Frank: Well, I understand you have places to go. Maybe I did find the wrong man for this job and perhaps took a portion out of your time for nothing. I apologize if I did. The door’s there. Security will make sure you’re escorted out.

Instead of leaving Leon walks up to the desk giving him his choice.

Leon: Frank, I’m in.

Frank: Good.

B.S.A.A. HQ, New York City, New York; Firing Range

Chris Redfield fires at the range targets with his handgun. Many years past and he managed to overcome his PTSD of the all incidents he lived through. He still remembers them and soon became hard for him to concentrate. Years past and not a word on a single bio-terrorism incident. Maybe this time the B.S.A.A. has all the bio-terrorist on the run but that wasn’t the only thing in his mind. After the Miami Incident, he heard about Leon and his sister, Claire breaking up. When she approached him, he found her emotionally broken down about the whole affair. For, the next years, she’s been seeing many psychologists to help with overcome this dramatic experience. She began making improvements, which made eligible mentally fit to go on missions. Chris though, wasn’t sure if she was still ready. Then suddenly his partner, Sheva Alomar approached him. Chris looks back and sees her. He puts the handgun down and the muffs as well.

Sheva: You’ve been busy.

Chris: I needed to get my gun skills back in shape. Years with no incidents has left me rusty. What you’re doing here?

Sheva: I came to tell you that we’re needed in the briefing room. It’s an emergency.

Chris: About damn time. I was beginning to get bored. Tell them I’ll be there.

Sheva exits the range, Chris then goes back to his gun and finally, shoots the final target in the head.

God, again... I swear, if Leon and Snake don't team up or something, we're going to have a major emergency on our hands. This is really beginning to get tense, friend. You're making me wonder what in the world the government is truly up to now.
