KH: Road to Oblivion Chap.7

Chapter 7

Mall; New York City, New York

A reporter stands in front of fence that was set up by the New York National Guard after the quarantine was issued on the mall.

Female Reporter: We’re live on CNN to bring you this breaking news. Where I’m standing right now is where the National Guard has set up base here, where supposedly a quarantine was issued at a mall. Rumors believed the reason for this was a bio-terror attack. Neither the National Guard nor the President has made any official statements so far; the Guard has also denied entrance to any unauthorized personnel. This is Janet Synclair, we’ll keep you updated.

At the entrance to the militarized zone an APC approaches the gate. The guard checks at the APC.

Guard: ID, sir?

The man shows him the ID, the guard looks at it.

Guard: Okay, go on through.

The APC moves into the base and parks in a space. Inside, the APC, Snake and Lucario got ready to move out.

Snake: What do you think of the security, Drebin?

Drebin: From where I can see, it looks pretty tight. Getting into that mall won’t be a piece of cake.

Lucario: Are you sure you want to do this?

Snake: I’m damn sure.

Drebin: Well by the looks of it nothing’s going to convince you to stop. I only hope you can carry all those weapons. By the way before you go into the mall make sure you get a pack of the vaccine. It’ll help counteract the T-Virus if it gets into your system.

Drebin opens the door out of the APC, Lucario and Snake sneaked out of the APC. They were in a heavily secured territory, now.

Snake: Lucario, any chance you can make us, you know…um…invisible.

Lucario: That’s really not a technique, I know.

Snake: Crap…this is going to take a while.

They kept out of the Guardsmen’s sights; bringing intention to themselves was not a very good idea. They finally saw what looked like to be a container with syringes in it. Snake, quickly runs over to it and grabs a pair. The label reads, “T-Virus Vaccine; Note: Only use when infected, don’t wait the last minute to use it.”

Snake: (Good, got the vaccine and now, to the mall)

Before Snake can move, he hears a commotion going on in a tent, Snake and Lucario sneaks by and listens om.

Claire was angry at the colonel; she glares at him, as he says to her that he won’t send even a single man into the mall on a blind mission to save survivors. Leon and Josh could only watch Claire’s useless efforts to convince him.

Colonel: Ms. Redfield, as I have said for the last two times. I’m not sending in a team because of a personal request. If we heard any word from any survivors then I will but until I receive word that there are survivors, I’m not sending my men into the mall running around blindly without any information on their location and killing zombies at the same time, it’s a big waste of effort.

Claire: You have to do something!! My brother is in there as well as innocent people.

Colonel: For all I know your brother could be dead, maybe a zombie for all I know.

Claire: DON’T YOU DARE SAY THAT!!

Leon: Why can’t you just let us check the mall? Just the two of us. No squads or anything.

Colonel: (Why do I even bother talking to these people?) You know what, do what you want!! I already explained it before. You go into that mall and you both on your own. No backup or rescue squad to save you from turning into one of those freaks, just the two of you. We’re blowing this building by sunrise, don’t think I won’t blow it because the two of you are in it. You were dead the second you went into that mall and how you going to get into that mall, you do it by yourselves. I gave my pilots strict orders not to give anybody a ride to that mall.

Snake couldn’t believe what he just heard, that son of a bitch is planning on killing not only the zombies but also, any survivor that can still be in the building. He needed to get into that building and fast. Snake and Lucario ran towards the mall, going in the front was suicidal, so they’ll have to go in from the roof.

Snake: Lucario, can you give me a boost to the roof?

Lucario: I’ll try.

Lucario uses his aura abilities and pretty much sent Snake flying over onto the roof. Snake landed roughly on it, he wasn’t expecting that but it still got the job done.  Lucario jumped on the roof.

Lucario: This is it. This is where we’re going to stop the virus.

Snake: Once we go inside, there’s no turning back. You ready?

Lucario: I’m always ready.

Snake and Lucario entered through the roof access and were on their way to save the survivors before the Army blows the mall to hell.

Claire cried after the argument, was there no hope for her brother, will anyone be saved. Suddenly, Leon walks into the tent and gathers some weapons.

Claire: Leon, what are you doing?

Leon: I’m going in. I’m not waiting for the military to kill survivors. You can stay if you want. I thought you always had hope. Have these many years changed you for real? You always had hope when you looked for your brother, you didn’t even stop, but it seems you lost it. Claire, regardless if we’re not together you should never let go of that hope.

Claire:…you’re right after we did split I wasn’t acting like myself as I should. I thought all those sessions with the psychologist would help set me straight but I guess all part of myself was still missing. Are you going to need any help?

Leon: I always have a spot left.

Claire: It’ll be just like old times.

Leon: Yeah, it will be.

Claire: How are we getting in?

Leon: Josh is willing to take us there, last chance to stay.

Claire: You know I won’t.

Leon: I thought you would say that.
